Difficulty with sleeping

Difficulty with sleeping is something that many people struggle with. Medications rarely have a useful role here. Solutions that enable patients to make progress involve learning a bit about sleep and tools that can help. We thought it may be useful for us to share this on here directly with you. So here is a collection of resources gathered from lots of doctors on the subject.

https://thesleepcharity.org.uk/information-support/

and

https://sleepcouncil.org.uk/advice-support/sleep-advice/

are leading organisations on supporting people to get better sleep.

https://teensleephub.org.uk/ is specifically for teenagers and can be downloaded.

http://freecbti.com/ offers free cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) which has excellent evidence.

https://web.ntw.nhs.uk/selfhelp/ contains excellent guides to many topics around mental health and includes sleep.

Some free apps are available with guided sleep meditation, including 'Calm'.

Finally something a bit more unusual ‘Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR).’ There are various long videos online that often involve someone talking in a sleepy whisper that some people find really helpful.
